Displays and screens are concepts associated with the server. The term display is synonymous with the term server as far as X is concerned and refers to devices that are running a server process. The term screen usually refers to a hardware output device, such as a graphics monitor, under the control of a display. Sometimes a single display may have access to more than one screen, see figure 4.
