Window ManagementWith most window systems, the window manager is a corporate part of the system. With X, however, the window manager is merely another client. In fact, there are many different window managers available to X users, each offering different features and functionality, but generally achieving the same purpose. Furthermore, it is not necessary to run an window manager, if the user does not require such a facility.
